MUA appointment changed, Boss Silcox reappointed

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Belton now an official member of High Street Machine

The boss flexed his muscles and Gibson, Belton and Donnelly obeyed. Belton who campaigned in 2010 on a platform of change was the biggest surprise but I guess this officially anoints him as part of the High Street political machine. Gibson and Donnelly voting for their campaign manager (and campaign contributor) is par for the course. Silcox showed he can still pull Town Council’s puppet strings as he has done for 20+ years. Word is he still has his hands all over the Gardens redevelopment project and still calling the shots on how to proceed. No wonder nothing has changed, the township debt is growing and there is still no shovel in the ground.

As for the MUA appointment this leaves the township open for David Benn to challenge Silcox’s appointment. I guess the township likes spending money on lawyers. (more…)

Board urged by members of public not to go through with it.

Minimal savings would mean strangers in the classrooms

“I don’t want to be sitting here talking about these things,” Hibbs said. “You do an important job for us.” (more…)

PILOT approved for Gsell warehouse site

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

Payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) program approved for Gsell warehouse site.

The 75 unit senior housing will generate more tax dollars for the township. It was approved 3-2 at the council meeting Monday night. The Winzinger/Mill Race faction was out in full force against the project. It should come as no surprise that Winzinger wants to buy the property (with UEZ funds) and build a “mixed use” project.

Legal confussion over MUA appointment

Township attorney backtracks on own legal advice

Lets keep it real here. If Boss Silcox would have been appointed in this manner no one would be making a fuss over this. But we all know who pulls the puppet strings on town council. Gibson and Belton are working overtime (well at least the township attorney is on your dime) to find a loophole to get Silcox back onto the MUA.

Kind of funny how the same law firm that told Town Council in a public meeting that Dave Benn was appointed to MUA is now trying to say that he is not. If this proves anything its that the people really running this town are not the elected ones.

To count an abstention or to not count an abstention? That is the legal question the Township Council brought to the forefront this week.

And it seems the question is not an easy one to answer. (more…)
